The Kneseth Israel Hebrew School led by Rabbi Weisblum celebrated Tu B'Shevat, learning about and appreciating the fruit and trees grown in Israel. They also planted their own rosemary bushes donated by Homestead Gardens. A very nice turnout enjoyed the event, and shared in a light lunch.

Jewish War Veterans Post #380 along with the Fleet Reserve Association sponsored this year's Memorial Day Parade in Annapolis on Sunday, 17 May 2009. House Speaker Michael Busch (Grand Marshal), Mayor Ellen Moyer, CAPT Donna Kahn (Commander JWV Annapolis Post #380), LtCOL Art Torf (Chaplain - JWV #380), and Ray Jewett (Chaplain for the local Vietnam Veterans of America) were featured speakers at the City Dock.

On June 19th, Congregation Kneseth Israel celebrated our first Shabbat Dinner honoring a distinguished congregant. For this inaugural event, Glenn Carr, a distinguished synagogue and community volunteer and coordinator was the first well-deserved recipient of the honor. About 170 friends and family came to celebrate the contributions from this gentleman. JDG

The annual Rabbi Morris D. Rosenblatt Memorial Lecture featured guest speaker Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. Rabbi Boteach is a best-selling author, award-winning television and radio host and syndicated columnist, and one of the most influential rabbis in America. He is the host of the national TV show "Shalom in the Home" on The Learning Channel, helping families with difficult relationships, and has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the "Today Show", "Good Morning America", and many cable news networks. Over 200 people attended the stimulating, thought-provoking talk on being a hero in a selfish age.
