What's Happening at Kneseth Israel
Shop at our Sisterhood Gift Shop for your Judiac needs. We are fully stocked with gift items for weddings, Bar or Bat Mitzvot, kippot, or if you just wish to decorate your home. Many fun items for your kids and grandkids! You can contact the synagogue office to schedule and appointment.
Our Tu B' Shevat seder will be held on Friday, January 30 from 12 noon to 1:00 PM. We will drink four cups of grape juice, partake of the seven species for which Israel is known, recite a blessing over a new fruit, and recite some kabbalistic verses in honor of the holiday (actually takes place Sunday night, February 1).
Please register via email or phone to Kneseth Israel office. Donations are welcomed, not required. Rebbitzen Ijeoma's Rosh Chodesh Book Club
Rebbetzin Ijeoma formally invites you to join in the first session of the Rebbetzin's Rosh Chodesh Book Club. Rosh Chodesh is particularly designated for women as both are essential in making sure the festivals take place! Traditionally, it also recognizes that women did not participate in the sin of the golden calf.
Our books will cover diverse topics, Jewish, historical, and others, as time goes on, we will take ideas. For now, we will begin with a monthly zoom meeting, on or about Rosh Chodesh to discuss the book assigned the previous month. Our first book is Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe. This book has particular meaning for Rebbetzin Ijeoma as the Igbo author uses a fiction novel to explain the cultural upheaval experienced before and during the British colonial period. The zoom meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 4 at 5:00 pm EST via this Zoom link. Family Chanukah Celebration
